Ionization technology for commercial applications is based on ions produced by an ion generator, configured either with needlepoint brush electrodes or tubes. These ion generators are mounted either inside a building’s air handler or in the supply ductwork. Highly ionized air with millions of ions (O2+ and O2-) are delivered in each cubic foot of air through the ductwork and into the treated space. Because of their charge, these ions proactively attack the contaminants at their source to vastly improve indoor air quality. Aerisa ionization technology provides the following benefits:

Airborne Particulate Removal

Because the ions have a charge, airborne particulates agglomerate and increase in size. Larger particles are trapped more efficiently by even poor quality return air filters. Larger particles also settle much faster and may then be removed by housekeeping. Either way, previously airborne particles are removed from the breathing zone. Particulate may contain bacteria, virus, mold and other allergens—thus, their removal creates a much healthier environment.

Odors

Aerisa ionization technology “casts a broad net” over a host of odorous compounds found in commercial applications, to include ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and acetaldehyde. Highly ionized air oxidizes these odor causing compounds into less objectionable molecules such as water, nitrogen gas and elemental sulfur.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

New carpeting, paint, furniture, office equipment, glue and solvents are only a few commercial materials that emit VOCs. Like that for odors, highly ionized air oxidizes VOCs, breaking these chemicals into simple, harmless compounds.

Bacteria, Mold and Viruses

In addition to removing airborne particulates, ions oxidize the cell walls of bacteria, mold and viruses. These microorganisms become sterilized and can no longer multiply and die.

Measure and control outside air intake flow rates, especially during minimum outside air mode.

If the AHU provides air to a single pressure zone, control a return or relief fan to maintain the proper supply and return airflow rate differential. Control the supply fan to duct static pressure.

If the AHU provides air to multiple floors, consider treating each floor as a separate pressure zone to minimize stack effect. Provide airflow measurement onto and off of each floor and modulate a return air damper off of each floor to maintain the supply and return airflow rate differential. Control the supply and return/relief fans to duct static pressure.

If the AHU provides air to multiple pressure zones (such as labs or clean rooms), provide airflow measurement into and out of each zone to maintain the supply and return airflow rate differential. Control the supply and return/relief fans to duct static pressure.

Consider monitoring bleed flow or static pressure across critical boundaries and reset differentials as necessary.

When exhaust flow rates are variable or change significantly with wind and stack pressure, consider measuring exhaust flow rates if the changes are a significant component of the pressurization flow.

Integrated comfort modules for heating, cooling and ventilation

Swegon offers a family of products consisting of comfort modules. The modules are designed to supplement one another and together create optimal room comfort.

The comfort modules operate on a basic principle that is closely akin to that of chilled beams. The difference is mainly that the comfort module distributes air in four directions instead of two. This maximizes the area where supply air is mixed with room air so that the modules discharge air at high capacity, yet they do not occupy more ceiling space than necessary.

The comfort modules are also optimized to quickly mix the discharged air with room air providing better comfort in the room. In heating applications, this technique can be advantageously utilized to efficiently provide provide heat along the ceiling.

Adjustable spread pattern

The easily adjustable nozzles in combination with Swegon ADCII (Anti-Draught Control), offer maximal flexibility if changes in the room layout become necessary.

All the sides can be set independently of one another so that the comfort module can distribute more or less air and simultaneously discharge air in whatever direction desired in the room.

Chillgard® RT Refrigerant Monitor

Capable of detecting refrigerant gas down to 1ppm, the Chillgard RT Refrigerant Monitor is purpose-built to monitor up to eight remote areas—and is completely configurable to detect either a specific refrigerant or group of refrigerant gases.


Z-Gard® C 485 Controller

For wide-ranging gas-monitoring needs, the economical Z-Gard C 485 Controllers are up to the task. The controllers connect with a wide array of MSA Z-Gard S Sensors, with controller models accepting up to 24 sensors. Relay outputs indicate warning, alarm or sensor fail for each zone, and units are available with one or two zones. A large LED readout displays the active channel and the corresponding sensor gas level.

These sensors employ solid state, electrochemical or catalytic sensors which generate a representative output signal proportional to the calibrated operating range. DANFOSS AB-QM PICV

The Danfoss AB-QM is a Pressure Independent Control Valve (PICV). Together with an actuator it functions as a control valve and it has an integrated balancing function. The AB-QM is a high quality product that is manufactured with a high precision. That means it will give you accurate control independent of the circumstances in the HVAC system.

This valve requires no up or down stream pipe diameters to provide very accurate flow control over large pressure range. Sizing is easy as you only need know the pipe size and the GPM required. The valves come in 10 sizes from 0.2 to 1950 gpm.
