The Axijet® High Plume Dilution Fan is used to extract laboratory, process, or fume hood effluent air and dilute the effluent with outside ambient air. Because of the nozzle design, the diluted effluent is displaced high into the atmosphere at a constant high discharge velocity. As a result, the Axijet has greater exhaust dilution, higher discharge velocity, greater exhaust mass, and a greater plume height than conventional blowers and fans. The Axijet is AMCA certified for both Air & Sound.

Fiberglass Airfoil Control Damper

The M.K. Plastics series K-PD series fiberglass control dampers are intended for low to medium pressure and velocity applications where corrosive elements exist in the air stream. The dampers are center pivoted and are available in both parallel and opposed blade design. An extended shaft enables both manual and control. Linkage is out of the air stream concealed in the frame. Maximum temperature is 200 deg F. The dampers can be either flange or duct mounted, flange drilling is available as an option.The K-PD series dampers are AMCA Certified for Air Leakage & Air Performance, and are licensed to bear the AMCA Seal.

Fiberglass Gravity Backdraft Damper

The M.K. Plastics series K-GD end-pivoted fiberglass gravity backdraft dampers are intended for low to medium pressure and velocity applications where corrosive elements exist in the air stream. Recommended for backdraft control to allow airflow in one direction and prevent airflow in the opposite. Maximum temperature is 200ºF. The K-GD series dampers can be flange or duct mounted in either vertical or horizontal applications. Flange drilling is available as an option.

Fiberglass Round Control Damper

The M.K. Plastics series K-RD are manufactured to meet the needs of the odor control and corrosive HVAC industries by providing a corrosion-resistant FRP Damper that is used to regulate an exhaust flow or shut off and isolate a system. The operating conditions for the dampers are designed to match the operating conditions of the duct system. Premium vinyl ester resins are used throughout the damper. Fire-retardant resins are also available for a Class 1 flame spread. The K-RD 503 & 504 series dampers are AMCA Certified for Air Leakage & Air Performance, and are licensed to bear the AMCA Seal.

PVC Gravity Backdraft Shutter

Heavy duty PVC shutters are ideal for humid applications and corrosive conditions where maintenance or replacement of metal shutters is a nuisance. Can be used with wall fans or centrifugal blowers for horizontal or vertical arrangements. Weather tight and quiet operation.

Mist Eliminators

High efficiency mist eliminators constructed in both FRP and PVC are designed to separate liquid droplets from exhaust or vapor flow, effectively reducing condensate solids emission. The eliminators consist of a corrosion resistant fiberglass housing or chamber with extruded PVC baffles that split the exhaust flow into droplets which are then collected and removed through a outlet drain. M.K. Plastics Mist Eliminators have been successfully used in chemical plating tank ventilation systems, flue gas desulphurization plants, moistening and air conditioning facilities, pulp & paper evaporators, synthesis and process gases. An internal wash-down system is offered as an accessory

AXTC Overview

  • Fiberglass straight-line airflow centrifugal fan featuring the design advantages of an axial type fan with the reliable performance of a centrifugal fan. The 'tubular' in-line design offers straight airflow suitable for horizontal or vertical duct mounting, as well as roof mounted exhaust and supply ventilation.
  • All AXTC models are licenced to bear the AMCA seal for Air & Sound performance, and are based upon tests and procedures performed in accordance with AMCA Publication 211 & 311.
  • The AXTC employs a specially designed non-overloading backward inclined airfoil wheel which allows air to flow with a minimum of turbulence and losses. This results in higher efficiencies and lower sound levels.
  • Both wheel and casing are manufactured with high quality corrosion resistant resins and fiberglass reinforced. This innovative design has no metal in the airstream, for superior corrosion resistance and long life in corrosive atmospheres.
AXTC Design Features
  • The AXTC impeller is backward inclined, airfoil, vinyl ester fiberglass reinforced, Class II of special design to facilitate the air flow through the casing with improved efficiency. It is tested for its integrity at a minimum 50% higher speed than the maximum stated catalog performance. The impeller is electronically statically and dynamically balanced in accordance with ANSI/AMCA 204-96 “Balance Quality and Vibration Levels for Fans” to Fan Application Category BV-3, Balance Quality Grade G6.3.
  • AXTC fans are manufactured with high quality, corrosion resistant resins and are fiberglass reinforced, able to withstand temperatures up to 210 deg. F., subject to the exhausted chemicals fumes and theirconcentrations. UV inhibitors are added to the resins and fans are flame retardant class 1 of 25 or less. The molded tubular split housings are smooth both exterior for aesthetic appearance and interior for streamlined airflow, are resistant to weather, salt spray and most chemicals.
  • The tubular fan has an inner cylinder or chamber, rigidly constructed to support the fan sheaves, shaft and bearings which are completely out of the airstream.
  • Straightening vanes serve two purposes: they give extra rigidity to the fan housing and reduce turbulence by straightening the airflow exiting the fan wheel, increasing efficiency.
  • The ‘split’ casing will unbolt and separate, (one section only), in such a way as to gain easy access for maintenance to the shaft bearings and drive components. Impeller and shaft assembly removal can also be achieved. The split casing is designed to enable section removal in both horizontal, vertical and roofmounted positions without affecting the stability of the fan.
  • There is no exposed metal in the exhaust airstream. All hardware is 304 stainless steel and completely encapsulated in fiberglass where exposed to the exhaust.
  • Built in compliance with ASTM Standard D4167-97, for Fiber-Reinforced Plastic Fans and Blowers.

Leadlag™ Systems

Laboratory Exhaust Systems that utilize multiple fans in a N + 1 design must sequence the standby fan in order to prevent bearing and drive damage due to stagnancy. Since laboratory systems typically operate 24 hours per day it is impractical and unsafe to simply turn fans on and off, since this would disrupt the system static pressure of the manifold exhaust system and would jeopardize the safe exhaust of the laboratory exhaust system.

The MK Plastics Leadlag™ controller has an additional feature that will shut down a fan when the total system airflow has been decreased by that fan exhaust volume. This feature would be applicable during off hours such as night mode, vacation periods or a change in system requirements.

The LEADLAG™ Exhaust Fan Control System does the following…

  1. Reads and maintains the set static pressure in the exhaust system.
  2. Automatically activates the standby fan while simultaneously deactivating one of the lead running fans; preserving a constant pressure in the bypass air plenum.
  3. The design static pressure will be maintained within +/- 10% during any Leadlag™ sequence. Additionally, the static pressure variation will last no longer than 30 seconds.
  4. Maintains the necessary exhaust from the facility by modulating of the bypass damper which will main­tain full exhaust fan design CFM. This feature ensures the design stack height. Alternatively, fans can be sequenced off in lieu of bypass air for energy saving.
  5. Field modifiable programming.
  6. Airtelligence, Inc. technical personnel are factory trained and certified to start these systems up and keep them running right.

  • M. K. Plastics Corporation’s RBK is a centrifugal exhaust fan that can be either roof or wall mounted.
  • The impeller and housing are completely fabricated of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). A revolution in fiberglass fan manufacturing, the impeller of the RBK is the result of years of R & D. The impeller is manufactured with high quality corrosion resistant resins and fiberglass reinforced.
  • This innovative design has no metal in the air stream, for superior corrosion resistance and long life in corrosive atmospheres.

Venturi Perchloric Acid Exhaust System

  • Venturi Perchloric Acid Exhaust System

Perchloric acid [HClO4] is clear liquid that has no odor. Solutions below 73% at room temperature are strong non-oxidizing acids. Perchloric acid becomes a strong oxidizer when heated or at higher concentrations, at or above 73%. Organic, metallic and non-organic salts formed from oxidation are shock sensitive and pose a great fire and explosion hazard. There are many documented accidents resulting from perchloric acid.

Inappropriate and Appropriate Materials
The following materials are not recommended for use with 72% perchloric acid: Nylon/polyamides, Dynel/modacrylic ester, Dacron/polyester, Bakelite, Lucite, vegetable-based Micarta, cellulose-based lacquers, copper/brass/bronze (which form shock sensitive salts), aluminum (dissolves), high nickel alloys (dissolve), cotton, wool, wood, and letharge (glycerin and lead oxide).

The following are suitable for use with 72% perchloric acid: Viton, chemically pure titanium, 316 stainless steel, Hastelloy C (slight corrosion rate), PVC, CPVC, Teflon, polyethylene, polypropylene, FRP, epoxy resins and glass. Acceptable coatings are limited to inorganic ceramic types, such as porcelain.
